We held our annual spring piano recital this month! We had about 120 guests and 24 performers.
This year the theme was "Music from Around the World".
Folk and patriotic songs from various countries and cultures were represented by each student, which made for a special and educational experience! There is so much wonderful music in this world, and it was a privilege teaching these songs to my students.
I am so proud of all who performed, from my first-timers to my well-seasoned performers! You all did a wonderful job.
I love this recital theme! I have about 30 students and am considering this theme for our upcoming spring recital. Would you mind sharing your song sources? We use mostly Faber Piano Adventures curriculum. Thank you!
Hi Karen, good luck with your upcoming recital! This is a great theme, my students and their families really enjoyed it. About half of these were arrangements found in popular methods like Faber PA, Alfred Basic, Alfred Adult, John Schaum, and John Thompson. Some from their standard method books, some from their Performance/Recital/supplement books.
I arranged the rest of the music myself. I’ve made most of the sheet music available here, along with others that fit this theme: https://www.musicandtheory.com/product-tag/traditional-folk/. I’m currently working on posting other traditional/folk arrangements as well. If you need other recommendations, or if there’s a specific title/level you’re looking for, let me know and I’d be happy to help!
